Ok, I agree with that.
I remove this patch for my 9mdk package. I'll use a set of script
(unmute/mute) for playing with that.
I've just changed the default call to mencoder with :
VCR_CMD = ('/usr/share/freevo/unmute; '+
CONF.mencoder + ' ' +
[...]
'-o %(filename)s.avi ' +
'; /usr/share/freevo/mute;') # Filled in by Freevo
