Hi,
Im using Freevo since a year and I havent got any bigger problems with
it. Just updated to 1.5pre1 and I get lots of errors:
(Im running a plain gentoo box, X11 and tvout using nvidias binary drivers,
alsa9. I removed my old freevo and installed 1.5pre1 completly new)
1.)
I do a "freevo cache"
creating playlist metadata............................
Traceback (most recent call last):
File "/usr/lib/python2.3/site-packages/freevo/helpers/cache.py", line 473, in ?

elif util.match_suffix(dir, playlist.mimetype.suffix()):

fsuffix = vfs.splitext(filename)[1].lower()[1:]
File "/usr/lib/python2.3/posixpath.py", line 92, in splitext
i = p.rfind('.')
AttributeError: 'tuple' object has no attribute 'rfind'
This is in my local_freevo.conf:
OVERLAY_DIR = "/var/cache/freevo/overlay"
COVER_DIR = "/media/Divx/mdata/covers"
VIDEO_SHOW_DATA_DIR = "/media/Divx/mdata"
2.)
Im using the script provided by Gentoo to start freevo during startup w/o
needing to login on my box. This worked fine until 1.5pre1. Since then it
seems there is a PATH issue within /usr/bin/freevo. Dont know yet how to
fix it, but it seems it would be a good idea to set a basic PATH enviroment
variable (like it was done in prior versions in the /usr/bin/freevo SHELL
SCRIPT), so freevo finds "xinit" "X" etc... (it complains about not being
able to start the X server)
3.)
I tried to replace /usr/bin/freevo with the old version of 1.4.1 and it
works only if I start freevo as a logged in user. If I let freevo start
during startup (as an service in my default runlevel), xinit starts the
X server, I can see the freevo startup progress screen and there it hangs!
It hangs about in the middle of the progress. If I log in as root and do
a restart of the freevo init script it works as expected.
Whats going on there? At lest here, it seems 1.5pre1 is a major step backward
s :-/ At least the new skins RULE :)) So ! please ! come around this issues
as they make freevo currently unuseable to me. I can provide further informat
ion on request.
