To Freevo "bug department"
;)
Using Freevo 1.5.0-rc2
and mmpython 0.4.2 I get the following bugs:
General: Long titles causes the title not to be
shown at all! ( Log gets filled with lines like : "surface module not
available
Render failed, skipping 'Will & '..." ) The
problem disapered when I set osd_overscan_ to 45 & 35 (40 & 30 got some
of the titles rigth but not all). This happens with the epg, movies and
music
Config: osd_overscan_* settings are poorly named or
have bad documentation, all other osd settings refer only to the actual osd (
volume status, etc ) and says the it is not for skinning, how ever this one also
alters the apperence of the skinned menu ( wich is nice since it does not have
it's own settings - but still.. )
Movies: When using the IMDB grabber from the menu
it places the .fxd file and jpg in the cache dir - not in the actual movie dir,
this causes the menu to display 2 movies one without text ( the original file ),
and one with the imdb text ( the .fxd file ). How ever the .fxd file tries to
start a file:// link when played and since it is not url encoded it breaks if
the path contains spaces, etc.. all the problems are solved by simply copying
the .fxd file to the same dir as the actual movie file - but this should not be
necesary. Either freevo should put the .fxd fil in the propper place or suppres
the old file and do proper url encoding on the file:// link.
TV: For some reason freevo mutes my mic and sets
its volume to 0 each time I exit the tv part, and doesn't reset it when I
enter it again ( I use the mic port for tv sound)
TV: ( this bug may be due to tv_grab_dk 's
behaviour ) my xmltv grabber does not include currently running program and you
can only get access to the tv app by pressing a running show in the epg, this
means that it may be as much as an hour before I can access the tv ( depending
on the length of the shortest currently running show ). This is ofcourse
becourse I update my xmltv when booting the freevo system, but still a menu item
for activating the tv app would be nice :)
Documentation: The section for 'Streaming Audio'
fxd files has one structure, while the radio.fxd in the contrib dir has another
and freevo seems to ignore the logo tag no matter where i put it. Wich is the
"rigth way" ?
Other than that I must say that Freevo is
absolutely deligthfull!
btw, why doesn't freevo have a forum ? with the
documentation the way it is and maney people not likeing mailing list ( me
included ) that fact my scare off potential new users...
Hope all of the above doesn't seem to harsh, I
really like Freevo and the above are just minor quirks that can be lived with -
though it would be nice to see them fixed ;)
On a last not I would like to know if
it is / is planned to be - possible to write plugins in C or do I
have to learn python to make extension for this remakable program?
Hope to hear from you.
