I use devfs and after booting I can see the permissions as follow:

tzi dev # ls -la cdrom*
lr-xr-xr-x  1 root root 13 Jul 12 21:21 cdrom -> cdroms/cdrom0

cdroms:
total 0
drwxr-xr-x  1 root root  0 Jan  1  1970 .
drwxr-xr-x  1 root root  0 Jan  1  1970 ..
lr-xr-xr-x  1 root root 33 Jan  1  1970 cdrom0 -> ../ide/host0/bus1/target1/lun0/cd
lr-xr-xr-x  1 root root 34 Jan  1  1970 cdrom1 -> ../scsi/host0/bus0/target0/lun0/cd
lr-xr-xr-x  1 root root 32 Jul 12 21:21 hdb -> ide/host0/bus0/target1/lun0/disc
lr-xr-xr-x  1 root root 30 Jul 12 21:21 hdd -> ide/host0/bus1/target1/lun0/cd

There is a disc in /dev/cdroms/cdrom0 but not in /dev/cdroms/cdrom1

It usually does not matter, I have somtimes 2 discs in the drives and
sometimes both are empty.

Tried it, does not change anything. Same messages in the log file as
before.
