I thought this may be useful for someone out there, its pretty rough and ready, I hacked it together a while ago but only fixed the last few problems recently.

I thought I'd throw it in the pot anyway.

The reason I wrote this was that I had a lot to do on startup, and thought rather than rely on many separate scripts and rc.local hacks i thought I'd write this up. Also I tried many ways of fixing the DPMS bug, the TV regularly going black even though my xconfig allegedly disabled it.
