I guess we should move to the vdr channels.conf in the future to have
one channels.conf for dvb and analog.
Still figuring this out, but there is certainly more information that
is associated with a channel. For example logos and specifically
subtitle page numbers. Logos could be uuencoded, bin64 encoded etc and
written in the channel configuration data. It may even be possible to
have multiple tv_grab files, I guess as digital tv becomes more common
it may be necessary to grab the programming information from more than
one source. This could also be stored against a channel. I'm sure
there are more information items for channels that may need to be
handled.
There is a difference between the channel information in channel.conf
and global channel stuff. The channels.conf should contain everything
needed for tvdev (== kaa.record) to record something from a channel
(this includes livetv). And freevo-tvserver together with kaa.epg
should have more information. E.g. the same channel could be at
different cards with a different setting in the channels.conf. The epg
database could contain additional data like the epg.
And yes, I want to support multiple tv_grab sources. One major source
(e.g. xmltv) and secondary sources like the epg in the stream. But
since the epg in the stream is still very bad (at least here in
Germany), we need the additional source. And I don't know of a logo
inside the transport stream.
There are some documents about when I google with "300 707
site:.etsi.org" it finds a couple so specs for EPG.
If you've already found these then sorry.
Cheers,
Duncan
