Yes i connected the dbox2 directly to the tv but in my sleeping
room. And in the living room i has a linux server with a dvb-t adapter
connected to a second tv.
To cut a long story short: i was able to implement an extension for
mplayer. So it is now possible to use the dbox2 as dvb like adapter. I
call it dbox2.
You are doing is better support in Freevo 2.0. We split the logic in
extra apps. So Freevo tells a tvserver what it should record or stream
for live tv. The tvserver is connected to tvdev apps in the LAN and
can control them. So what you are doing here is to add a tvdev for a
dbox. This sounds very cool, imagine to use such a box just as dvb-s
card in the LAN with the Freevo mbux interface.
I am impressed from freevo. It is very clear and simple code so i was
able to implement that feature in severaly hours. I just have to add 3
or 4 lines to tv/plugins/mplayer.py and a support dbox2ctl.py
file. That file is only 44 lines. Now the extension works very
well. Perfectly similar to normal mplayer dvb.
For Freevo 2.0 it would be nice to have that features in kaa.record
(our record engine). Or if you don't have much space, you could write
a small C app to record on that box and connect it via mbus with the
rest.
I installed freevo2 but i do not get it work. (Mainly because of no
time) But i am working on it.
The dbox2 have an easy web control interface. With that interface i zap
the channels. And the ts stream offered from a special port and can
directly read by mplayer and xine. Just over a URL like
http://dbox:31339/vpid,apid
I analyze the src code from freevo2 and see that the recording is done
by the kaa.record code. I do not know how is the video and audio stream
forwarded to mbus. But i think it is easy for my to modify my dbox2
implementation for freevo1.5 to get work as an tvdev at freevo2.
best regards Timo
