Because some freevo plugins want to store some stuff. Adding the attribute will make the list much longer and most of the time, the attribute is not even used. E.g. the auto bookmarker needs the position when the playback was stopped the last time. This attribute will be used for 2 or 3 files in your whole collection, why bother the other files with that attr? The dir code needs to store some info based on the category. By why should a dir in image need an attribute about video items? Dischi -- Don't piss me off - I'm running out of places to hide the bodies.
