Please note that this message will contain a full copy of the comment thread, including the initial issue submission, for this request, not just the latest update. Category: images Group: 1.5.4 Status: Open Resolution: None Priority: 5 Submitted By: Lucian Muresan (lucianm) Assigned to: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Summary: EXIF tag 0x112 'Orientation' in image viewer Initial Comment: A little backround: Several digital cameras update the value of the EXIF tag 0x112 'Orientation' either automatically because they have a sensor for this, or the photographer can rotate the image when viewing it on the camera display, and if he leaves the orientation that way, that JPEG pictuere gets the 'Orientation' tag updated accordingly... Now my findings so far: The value of the EXIF tag 0x112 'Orientation' is provided by mmpython-0.4.9, this should also be interpreted in Frevoo's image viewer. OK, the user can always rotate the picture by pressing left/right in the viewer, but if this information is already stored in the EXIF data of the picture (especially if it was modified manually on cameras not sensing the orientation themselves, like my KM A200), it would be nice if Freevo's image viewer rotates the image correctly by that flag. This would distinguish Freevo a lot among other linux picture viewers (even those intended for the desktop, under windows there are several even freeware ones, which support this). Anyone can confirm this? I'd fix it myself, but for that I'd have to learn a lot python first, and I think if it's an easy fix for a skilled python programmer, this should make it into 1.6. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=446895&aid=1573072&group_id=46652 ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Take Surveys.
