If you want to record channel1 while watching channel2, then yes, you need two 
tuners. But if you want to watch what you are recording, and start recording 
when you press REC, you only need 1 tuner. Actually, for what I've read about 
shift tv, freevo will always be recording. Then, the only thing to do is to 
know what pieces of the buffer can't be erased after watching tv. Probably 
this is already done and I (everybody) will have it very soon. But I wanted 
to be sure. That's why I said that this is probably already posible, but 
would be nice to have an easy configuration.
