Hi there,

I like to help a little with freevo2. I am not a professional programmer
and I cannot predict how much time I will have for it, but maybe there a
small (preferable simple ;-)) tasks, that I can start with.

My level of programming skills at the moment is to learn from the code
of others and then puzzle something together.

While I was playing with freevo2, the following ideas came to my mind:

* Porting the idlebar plugins from freevo1.7 to freevo2

* Create a "browse by channel" plugin similar to the "browse by genre"
plugin in the tv menu (I know there is already something like that in
every program submenu but I would like to have such a thing also from
the tvmenu)

* Improve the genre menu, channel menu and the tv guide to show with a
color code which programs are currently running, which are already over
and which lie in the future. Freevo1.7 has that for some time now and I
think that is a very helpful feature. I also would like to change the
genre menu and the channel menu to start with a currently running
program and not with the first program in the database.
(BTW when is old stuff removed from the database? I had the impression
that everything that ever was filled in there is still there.)

* The way the info for programs is shown at the moment seems not
optimal, I would display only short infos, like name, title, subtitle,
start and stop time in the info field in the tv guide menu.
For extensive info like description I would like to have another screen
which displays this. This screen would need to have a scrollable area
for the description, because it is sometimes quite long. I tried to
create such a thing in freevo1.7, but could not get the scrolling.
Maybe one should make this "extensive info screen" a plugin, so the
users who do have more infos for there programs can activate it and
others can deactivate it. I personnally would like to have this as the
default option for a program in the tv guide, even before the play option.

* This is somewhat related to the above point. The info for a program
should also be accesible from inside the genre and channel menu.

* Also I could try to implement the "search for similar" action in the
programs submenu. What did you plan there? Should it be the same as in
freevo1.7?

* Another thing, that I am very interested in, would be webradio. As far
as I saw, that is not working yet. What do you plan there? Can I help
somehow?

What do you think? Which ones make sense at the moment? Which ones would
be easy? Which ones would be more complicated? Maybe you would advice me
to start with something else?

Thank you
Tanja
