Hi! I'm packaging freevo for Fedora (6 and 7 and beyond) It is available from my own repository for now, but i plan to provide it to official Fedora repository, as everything necessary to build freevo is here. (tvtime will be provided but not xine (oxine will). Fedora use gstreamer by default with totem but xine-libs are provided also... It will miss some third part and optionals dependencies by doing this (like vlc mplayer, xdtv or xine itself) so it will lower the features by doing this. But the other way is to provide a rpm that will bring the full dependencies from a third part repository... The preferred third part repository for Fedora is livna (i'm part of the livna team) My repository is only compatible with rpm.livna.org and should not be used with freshrpms (that's a well known Fedora problem with incompatibles repositories)... There is a project to merge Freshrpms and rpm.livna.org to another repository. But this is not done yet... So the consequence is that, this page is completely wrong ;) http://freevo.sourceforge.net/cgi-bin/doc/Fedora Fedora Core 4 and 5 are "End Of life" (mean they are not maintained anymore). Documentation for Fedora Core 6 and Fedora 7 Install Livna repository, see this link : http://rpm.livna.org/rlowiki/ (prefer to link directly to the page) Install kwizart repository : http://kwizart.free.fr/blog/index.php?configuration yum --enablerepo=kwizart install freevo freevo-boot mplayer xine xdtv copy local_conf.py.example from /usr/shared/doc/freevo-1.7.0 to /home/<you>/.freevo/local_conf.py (but in /etc/feevo ) (this part will be taken from the rpm when a special uid gid will be chosen for freevo - this requires not to start the services by default (mostly because the web server do not have to run as root... Optionally, you can get xmltv with atrpms (but only using targeted install like:) yum --enablerepo=atrpms install xmltv freevo-core-suite and freevo-recording-suite are not used anymore (for now...) they have to be uninstalled in case of an upgrade rpm -e freevo-core-suite and freevo-recording-suite (same with freevo17 version) Known or possible regression: pygoom mp1e fmtools Xmame If they are not found from repositories like kwizart livna, Fedora officials, that's mean that may lead to problems...I can take care of those dependencies, only if they are ported on rpm.livna.org (if patents are used ) or Fedora official (if possible)... Nicolas (kwizart) PS: furthermore i'm the vlc packager at rpm.livna.org, and I've build the python-vlc plugin... Do you know if some work have been done to use it as a freevo plugins ? ------------------------------------------------------------------------- This SF.net email is sponsored by: Splunk Inc.
