I know I've questioned this before, but why do so many of the scripts contain mixer controls? Are these extra mixer controls really necessary??
Through my original experiences working on and testing sixmixer.py, I managed to remove all of these extra mixer controls. Freevo didn't seem to notice. Volume controls worked as expected. Wouldn't it be more realistic and less CPU intensive to prune these mixer controls from the various scripts, replacing them with calls to the currently running mixer?? For example, ivtv_xine_tv.py initializes it's own mixer control, prepares the audio outputs and starts this mixer on a PLAY event. Why? Do we really need this?? Isn't a call to the running mixer's reset() function sufficient?? ____________________________________________________________________________________ Be a better friend, newshound, and know-it-all with Yahoo!
