It is possible to use a remote server but it's quicker and more reliable 
using a mirrored repository.

You can turn off and on all the main menu items you want, such as the 
wiki, timeline, etc.

You mean when you know the number? This is done from the url.
http://path/to/project/ticket/1 ie. 
http://www.linuxowl.com/projects/freevo-1/ticket/1

The urls are pretty intuitive so browse source is the browser

mark-up is exactly the same, you can see by editing a page, the page 
names are a bit different and so is table of contents (TOC) I've 
actually put the main differences in to the freevo plugins -wiki option. 
IIRC this is because I am using restructured text for trac.
