No plans for 3.0 at the moment, and we would certainly not target 3.0 at the expense of at least 2.5 compatibility for a good while still. We'd target 2.6 first, but dischi and I haven't discussed timelines. I could see us making small changes that are compatible with 2.4 that ready us for 3.0.
