Having a problem installing on a newly installed ubuntu breezy system.

If I try to use the (sebian unstable) apt sources I get:-

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:/home/mythtv/build/freevo-1.5.4# apt-get install freevo -f
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree... Done
Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.
.
Since you only requested a single operation it is extremely likely that
the package is simply not installable and a bug report against
that package should be filed.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:
.
The following packages have unmet dependencies:
freevo: Depends: python (< 2.4) but 2.4.2-0ubuntu2 is to be installed
E: Broken packages
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:/home/mythtv/build/freevo-1.5.4#

So I tryed to do it from source.  The problem is some of the dependencies do not have exactly the same name as expected so the pre install check failes.  For example mmpython is called python2.3-mmpython so when I try to run the install I get:-

checking for mmpython...   not found
please download it from http://www.sf.net/projects/mmpython and install it

I could go and get it but I have a feeling the underlying problem is ubuntu has python-2.4.

Anyone got any ideas.  I am up to any sugestions including using a different distr.
