I am new to Linux so please forgive this obvious question. I have installed mandrake 9.1 SR2 on my computer. I download the 12 MB freevo1.3.2pre2.tar.gz binary. The site says that I will not need any external dependencies. So are all the runtime and apps files included in this directory. What are runtime files are they files freevo needs to compile or are they the files freevo needs to work? Also can I just untar this folder anywhere and start setting up freevo. I noticed at the bottom of the quick installation notes you could do a make install but you didn't have to for freevo to work. What would be the advantage of installing freevo this way. Thank you for your help.
