I tried using ./runtime/mplayer/mplayer and it did NOT work with dxr3, but the included libSDL seems to support the dxr3
Audio was out of sync until i gave up on the sound card and just stuck the audio plug into the dxr3 audio out jack. Now it is fine, for the most part. I also played with some custom MPLAYER flags in freevo_config.py, and if anybody wants them I can try to remember what I changed, since I reverted some of them back.
The only complaint i have now is that I don't have a remote control at the moment, so I need to figure something out for that, or else just buy a remote. Maybe I can configure my clie to be a IR receiver, heh.
watching TV proved to be a bit much for my celery 500, so I have put that on hiatus...the dxr3 didn't help at all with that.
Other than the annoying lack of keyboard input while using dxr3 mplayer, everything is good.

It seems that I fixed my own problem.
I reverted to a stock freevo-runtime installation, and set the output to dxr3 in freevo.conf, and all was good.
Apparently the runtime dlls have dxr3 built in, since I haven't seemed to have any problems yet.
I haven't tried watching TV on it yet, but video was great, and actually filled up the TV, saving me the trouble of having to buy another video card with better TV-out support (TNT2 Ultra right now). I'm glad I had that card laying around still.
