I was wondering if someone can set me straight. It seems like all modern video cards have DVI-I out. I understand this is to drive flat panel monitors.

I remember hearing several months ago that [some standards group] decided that the HDTV interface would be DVI. I was excited. Now that I am doing a little research it seems like this is DVI-HDTV. (Must be different?)

Can someone tell me the compatibilities and uncompatibilities?

How about a freevo box driving an HDTV? What are my options? I know about the ATI component adapter, but that seems kind of scary unless I get confirmation that it really doesn't need software support. Is this really a good solution?

(I am dumb about anything > SVideo in the TV realm)

Thanks,
Scott Serr
