What does "fxd" mean?
Tougher one:
I am using freevo pre4 -- perhaps I should be using a different version if things have changed... I think perhaps the mplayer-options in an fxd file are not properly being passed to mplayer. I'm not sure where to look to determine either... Here's the situation, please try this, and see what your results are:
I had a dual audio .avi (It turns out the file was indeed dual audio, and OK) Using the snippet of .fxd file from Aubin (which was formatted correctly from his memory -- impressive):
<video>
<file id="p1" mplayer-options"-aid 2">Balto.avi</file>
</video>I get no sound. Using my workstation, running "mplayer -aid 2 Balto.avi" gives me the movie in English. So I know that -aid 2 is the correct setting. Since eliminating the mplayer-options part gets me the movie played in another language, I *know* it's passing *something* to mplayer -- just not what I want it to. My next step was to strip out the other language. I did (man mplayer/mencoder is great...) it easily, and then freevo of course played the right language. Since for some reason english was incredibly quiet (encoding problem, not freevo) I want to pass mplayer an option to increase the volume. The following seems to do nothing:
<video>
<file id="p1" mplayer-options="-af volume=+15dB:sc">Balto.avi</file>
</video>
(email will add a linebreak, but none exists -- the <file></file> tag is all on one line)
I get very quiet audio still. I *could* reencode and increase the gain -- but that seems silly. Like I mentioned above, I *know* it's passing freevo something, but I don't know what.
Any tips? Please try, and see if you can increase a file's audio with the above audio filter... maybe it's just me
Thanks! -Shawn
