No I'm not a troll. But I am currently gathering info on all the PVR solutions I can find, to decide which one I will invest my time and money and more time on over the next few years.
I have already made the decision that it will be Linux based, as who knows what MS will think up for Windows 2008 and trustworthy computing. As far as I can see the main competitors are (in the opensource Linux world at least) 1. MythTV. http://www.mythtv.org/ - This seems like it is very similar to Freevo, it can however pause live TV which I don't think Freevo can (yet). The install has numerous dependencies, which Freevo doesn't (which is nice). 2. DVR http://dvr.sourceforge.net/ - Doesn't quite seem to be at the same stage as Freevo and MythTV. I thought I would ask here though, because when it comes to open source projects the long-term success is more to do with the community that surrounds the project than necessarily the software itself. So why do you use Freevo? And out of interest does anybody know how many users there are?
