display=fbdev:vidix is not valid. Use display=fbdev and set fbdev:vidix manualy as output device for mplayer. If it still doesn't work, try export SDL_VIDEODRIVER=fbcon before starting Freevo. If you still have problems, please mail what exactly happens.
