I gave up on trying to get Freevo to work with it directly, and went
with using WebVCR+ to record and Freevo to view the results.

With 2.4.x kernels the driver doesn't really do V4L. I hear that
with later 2.5.x and 2.6.x kernels the driver presents a V4L2 device,
but I'll leave that alone until 2.6 has been around a while and is
stable before going there.
