I'm new to the list - so sorry if this is a FAQ.
I'm thinking of setting up a mini-itx system to run Freevo on. I'm sure other people on the list have done the same thing, so I'm after some tips.
I'm looking at using the EPIA-M 1GHz board. I'll be mostly playing CDs, MP3s, DVDs and DivXs. So, on to the questions...
1) How is the video performance playing DVDs and DivXs? I've heard that there's now a driver for the MPEG2 decoder, and an optimised version of Xine around. Has anyone used these, and do they help?
2) What's the TV-Out quality like?
3) TV recording/time-shifting isn't a priority, but could the 1GHz C3 cope with it? Has anyone got something like the WinTV PVR cards working doing hardware encoding?
4) Sound issues. AIUI, to get 5.1 sound out, you can either use the TV-Out port as an SPDIF connector, or use the headphone/mic/lin-in sockets together. If I need TV-out, and I'm using a WinTV card that connects to the line-in, can I still get 5.1 sound?
Well, that should be enough questions for now. I'm pretty impressed with Freevo so far. It's about 80% working on my system and I haven't even read the instructions yet :-)
