I have a Freevo box based on a Chyang Fun Cube bare-bones (http://
www.chyangfun.com/Product/CF-S868.htm) with a Celeron 2.2GHz in it. I'm
currently using the on board video, which is S3 ProSavage 8, and am having
some video performance issues.

Symptoms include:
  - Loss of synchronisation while playing, especially with large (resolution)
files. eg; playing a Matrix trailer which is 1024x532.
  - Visible tearing, especially in pan shots.

I'm using software scaling (so in the case of large files, it'll be scaling
down to TV out's 800x600), which I'd expect to give some CPU overhead - I
thought a Celeron 2.2GHz should be able to cope (even considering its
neutered pedigree).

The box is running Debian 3.0 (Woody). I've configured Freevo to use X. I'm
pretty sure I correctly installed the proper Savage X driver.

Should this system be able to cope? Are the issues CPU-related, or possibly
video bandwidth related? Any other ideas?

I'm toying with the idea of whacking in a cheap AGP video card with decent TV
out, but I'd rather optimise performance however else I can first...
