Hi Peter!

Sorry to hear your trouble!

Short info of my first freevo-snapshot install Xbox+Gentoox

Download rsync-freevo script
emerge freevo-snapshot
25 minutes of compiling
Adapt local_conf.py
And everything works smoothly!

Cheers

Frederik

Subject: [Freevo-users] CVS adventures

This is a short list of death-traps when trying to get freevo up and running
from cvs;

Epia M9K + Mandrake 9.1

1) When installing pygame, everything breaks, until you comment out the two
lines in the 'Setup' file dealing with surfarray & sndarray
2) When compiling smpeg breaks horribly, you find and install the secret and
hidden ximian smpeg-0.4.4-9.ximian.2.i386.rpm. This still breaks pygame,
which doesn't find smpeg-config. You now find the _that_ binary actually got
built before the smpeg source build died. copy to /usr/bin. Joy.
3) There's an error in the CVS local_config.py.example, which is missing the
CONFIG_VERSION=3.8, and instead reads LOCAL_CONFIG_VERSION=3.7 (It has
obviously been copied from freevo_config.py some time ago. Easily fixed.

4) Still no go. Freevo crashes on being unable (despite complete
reinstalltion with a fresh copy of Mnadrake 9.1) to grok .png, so crashes
when trying to display freevo splash screen. Yes, libpng is installed.

Further bulletins as events warrants,

/Peter
