[Freevo-users] Hardware Encoding

I posted earlier asking what an ideal hardware configuration would be.  One 
person suggested that I purchase the Hauppauge PVR 350 because it has 
hardware encoding.  However, in the freevo FAQ it says that hardware 
encoding is not supported under linux.

"There is currently no support in linux for hardware mpeg-encoding which 
comes with the more expansive cards. However software encoding works fine 
for CPUs faster than 400Mhz."

I'm hoping that this FAQ is outdated and wrong.  Does anyone have the truth, 
hopefully a present user of hardware-encoding who can prove this wrong?
