I'd like to help, but I'm having the same problems. Sound works fine
coming through watching tv, but I don't get any sound recording.

I've tried prefixing the mencoder command with the aumix command
setting the rec and volume levels, and also tried the scripts Michael
supplied as well.

No matter what I try I get no sound - the only thing I can think that
might be causing it is that I'm not using the tuner on the card - I'm
using the composite in + audio in(feeding in from a satellite decoder).
However, as the sound from this is just going into line-in on the sound
card as per normal, I don't this should make a differnce (or should it?)

The only other thing I've worked out is that the sound is not muted or
at 0% volume within the captured avi - its just not there. Opening the
file in virtualdub shows there is no audio tracks at all. I've
included the output from mplayer below (using Michaels scripts), just
incase someone can work out what I'm doing wrong.

./tvrecord 1 5 /mnt/40gig/t.avi
