I find that the  *S*L*O*W* ness comes from when the weather plugin can't
contact the weather server. For me this has been a couple different things:
1) DNS servers in resolve.conf are not up / working
2) No network cable is plugged into my freevo box!

Both of these are really the same problem of the weather plugin not being
able to contact the weather server. I usually just un-comment the weather
plugin in local_conf.py & restart freevo.
