I am confused as to which files I should be downloading to run Freevo 1.4.
I started off by downloading: freevo-1.4-rc1.tgz and extracted this file. After the extraction, I ran freevo setup from the extraction dir and was then able to run ./freevo with out problem (well that is not entirely true, I had to install cdparanoia). However, I ran into dependency problems when running: python setup.py install The Freevo web page specifies that the most straight forward approach is to download and use the binary files. I am assuming these are: freevo-1.4-rc1.i386.rpm freevo-apps-1.4-rc1.i386.rpm freevo-runtime-8.01-rc1.i386.rpm So I installed all these as well and was able to run ./freevo from the /usr/local/freevo directory without problem. My question is, what is the difference between the two approaches? Which one should I use? Have I missed any steps for either installation approach? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
