Just a side note... 1.4rc1 Freevo doesn't seem to work well with 1.0pre2 mplayer. The mplayer (-dvd -tv options are now dvd:// and tv://) and mencoder (-tv option is now tv://) has changed. I did change the VCR_CMD in local config to respect the changes to mencoder function but it would only record the first 2064 of each program but the medocder function wouldnt die, just fit there. I assumed something else might have changed but didnt have enough time to debug. Local_config might want to have an option for the new mencoder/mplayer options when mplayer finally goes final. I have upon futher consideration moved back to Mplayer 0.91 and everything works fine. well, except for the playback on the problem below but my other Freevo box runs fine (1.2ghz with 128ram, vouput Hollywood Plus with driver dxr3, aouput SB 16 with driver oss, running Slackware 9.0).

Subject: [Freevo-users] Freevo seriously degrads mplayer playback

My current setup is 800mhz with 128ram, voutput is Voodoo3 using fbdev for the driver, aoutput is SB live using alsa9 for the driver, running Slackware 9.1 and 1.4rc1 for Freevo. I have come across a strange problem. When I go to playback a avi I recorded with Freevo the output is very shaky and very distorted when I fast forward. But when I goto play the same file using the same command line found in /var/log/internal-runapp it works fine with no distortion even when fast forwording 5 minutes into the program.

Example... Here is the line that freevo uses when the distortion happens...
./runtime/runapp --prio=-20 /usr/local/bin/mplayer -ac mad, -autosync 100 -nolirc -autoq 100 -ni -dr -double -nobps -hardframedrop
-slave -ao alsa9 -cache 1000 -v -vo fbdev /mnt/freevo/tv/Days of Our Lives--2003-10-29-1200.avi -vf scale=800:600

Here is what I put on the command line and it plays fine.
/usr/local/bin/mplayer -ac mad, -autosync 100 -nolirc -autoq 100 -ni -dr -double -nobps -hardframedrop -slave -ao alsa9 -cache 1000 -v -vo fbdev /mnt/freevo/tv/Days of Our Lives--2003-10-29-1200.avi -vf scale=800:600

I don't understand why this would happen is Freevo doesnt use all that much cpu time but I was wondering if anyone else might have a clue.

P.S. It also does the same for DVD's
