Hello everyone,
Well, after some digging through the freevo
mailing list, i found a post by Tim Gray that pretty
much matches the problems he described, thus i have
copied Tim on it (apologies though as the email is
3 or 4 months 'old' :)

I have installed lirc, got it working with
xmms no problem. I have also configured the /etc/freevo/lircrc
and run the ircat against it (getting the appropiate
'LEFT' for button 2 on my small creative labs infrared
thing :)

However, it doesnt work under 1.4rc4 (or 1.3.4 to
-some- extent, but more on that later)

In short, most people would think it was a
configuration error, however, let me say this, i
-really- dont think it is. Here are the observable
symptoms:

1.3.4 wont boot into FBDev mode with lircd
running (because it probably finds /dev/lircd and
trys to set it up). However, here is the quirky part,
if i export the DISPLAY to my laptop (slow as all
heck but) it actually -works-. yes, lircd works on
the remote on the server to move the selection on
my laptop's window (how weird is that)

1.4rc4 however refuses to start in -anyway-
in FBDev mode with lircd present. take out lircd, it
starts right up, no problem. I cant run the server in
any other mode though (the server is connected only
to a 'tv' sadly)

If it wasnt for the demonstratable [sic] fact
that I can export the freevo/pygame window to my laptop
and then control it via the servers remote control, well,
i ~myself~ would say it wasnt configured correctly.

As it stands, 1.4rc4 (with the appropiate runtime :)
is a 'no go' for FBDev and Lirc. sorry, perhaps i am missing
something, but i frankly dont know what.

Any thoughts/pointers ? They are gratefully received.

        regards
        Stef
