That is what I do by default to every bit of video/audio equipment I own. it
eliminates the possibility of having that as a problem, although all of my
gear comes with a ground point with a thumbscrew... I had to simply tie onto
the digital cable box.

yes...i did some more research in the internet. the solution is either a 
ground-loop isolator (about $150, for example 
http://www.jensentransformers.com/iso_vid.html) or a wireless a/v 
transmitter/receiver system. in every case the price is really steep. bad 
thing...
