I had to return it and haven't had a chance to look at it, but from taking a look at your code..
(Still don't know python but doesn't seem hard)
You search in a while(1) for the 'There are' part in mplayers output
yet mplayer output contains usually something like
There are 9 titles on this DVD. There are 7 chapters in this DVD title. There are 1 angles in this DVD title.
(Don't know what it was for that particular DVD) So instead of the number of titles, we get the number of angles Maybe we should try
while (title_num == 0) instead of the while (1) So that the first occurence of 'There are' is used.

Your fix works perfectly (dirty or not - I like it, of course :))
Great and thanks a lot!
I hope you can think of another, cleaner workaround.
Maybe you could, as a step of the installation of the runtime, compile ifoinfo and use that tool from dvdinfo.py ?
It outputs all the info you need...

So what to do now? If we remove the libdvdread from the runtime,
Freevo can't play dvds anymore (bad), right now it crashes (even
worse). The only solution is to use the css lib matching the
dvdread. But including decss will be a legal problem.
OK, bad hack, but try to replace your dvdinfo.py with the attached file. It uses mplayer to parse the num of titles on the dvd. This is a bad hack (TM) but at least we get the number of titles of the dvd. But we don't get the number of audio tracks/subtitles/chapters/length of each track. This is a freevo only solution, Thomas will kill me (the distance between us is not so big) if I put that into mmpython. Please try it.
