First off, thanks to the Freevo developers for a magnificent piece of
software! This really is the "icing on the cake" of my Linux system...

I'm using Freevo on a machine with a DVD player, which is mounted using
submount - this allows media to be ejected without unmounting it.
As I understand it, the media is always unmounted and only mounted
on-access. This is extremely practical, and I also use it for a
CompactFlash device - all accessible via Freevo, of course.

Basically my question is: can the polling of CD/DVDs be tuned or changed
to a sort of "insert notification" event? Using submount, each poll
results in a media mount and together with a dvd+rw patch creates a lot
of logging in syslog ("kernel: sr0: mmc-3 profile: 0h"). I imagine if
polling also worked on the CompactFlash device, the life of the medium
would be severely reduced since Flash medium apparently only has a
limited number of writes (and a mount is a write in most cases).

Thanks,

- Gerrit
