maybe i am doing something completely wrong:

freevo runs (cvs btw)

wait...
dvd root dir pops up

xien starts to starts to play with this command:
['--prio=-20', '/usr/local/bin/xine', '-pq', '-g', '-f',
'--no-splash', '--stdctl', '-V', 'xv', '-A', 'oss', '--no-lirc', '',
'file:///mnt/dvd/video_ts/vts_01_1.vob']
(i already played around with the xine parameters a little)
..well and playing stops when this vob file is finished :P

i also set myself a little debug output and item.mode is .. guess what
;) : "file"

what do i need to do to let freevo know that i inserted a dvd?

Which version of Freevo? Do you use the runtime? If not, do you have
libcss and libdvdread installed?

cvs
running debian unstable have installed: libdvdcss2 and libdvdread3
both are installed in /usr/lib/ (and this is configured correctly in /etc/ld.so.conf)
playing dvds in general works (when manually clicking the "dvd" button on the xine gui after it started with the wrong settings from freevo)

...but freevo thinks it has a disc with files (-> context, item.type) instead of a "fullfeatured" dvd.
