Just looking for some recommendations to upgrade my setup. At the
moment, I am currently using a Hauppage WinTV pro card, running sound
into my sound card. I am looking at moving this card down to a second
system and looking to upgrade my primary tuner card.

I'm looking for a card that will work correctly with btaudio or the like
so I don't have to patch it through my sound card. That's my first
requirement, because over the months it's been very frustrating. I have
a feeling that the card I have just isn't compatible with btaudio;
analog doesn't sample correctly (even with the right hZ) and the digital
is completely silent.

Also, this weekend I'm going to pick up a DVD burner... long overdue
with the sheer amount of CDs I've been burning to keep my shows around.
Currently I am recording shows at 640x480 in AVI with the DiVX codec
(lavac). Ideally I want to record the shows into a format I can burn
onto the DVD to watch on my DVD player without having to manually change
the format via transcode or whatnot. What format should I record it in
to match? I'm thinking off the cuff that DVDs are MPEG-4 (with DiVX?)
but I'm not 100% sure on that.

Depending on the format, I'm also thinking that requirement #2 of the
new card would probably be to handle hardware encoding so I can free up
some of the CPU load on my computer. 2.6 is MUCH better at handling
things while freevo is recording, but this is my desktop system, and I'd
rather not really notice it at all... or be concerned that if I do
something CPU intensive (like a large compile) that the recording
quality will suffer.

So, given those two goals... what hardware would you folks recommend?
