I just found out some details regarding DMA audio from a SAA7134 card. (archived on the video4linux list on redhat.com) You can enable DMA audio using option oss=1, it'll setup /dev/dspX (where X is the next available device, e.g., /dev/dsp1 if your sound card is on /dev/dsp), and capture from that device independently of the sound card settings. I don't have a saa7134 myself, so I can't test (mine's a saa7130). > Futhermore i was wondering wether the TV interface (menu item) is locked > while capturing (recording) is active. > Not at this moment. It is a bug IMHO but not easy to fix as it needs some device locking logic between the record server and tv viewing program.
