I'm trying to get DirectFB working with my G400 dual head card. As far
as I can tell, nobody I've seen has had the same precise problem.

I used these directions, following them to the letter:
http://www.sci.fi/~syrjala/directfb/matrox-tv-out-howto

But when I run mplayer (mplayer -vo dfbmga whatever.avi) I get this error:

(*) parsing config file '/etc/directfbrc'.

My /etc/directfbrc looks like this:
matrox-crtc2
matrox-tv-standard=ntsc

I created the device w/ mknod:

crw-r--r-- 1 root root 89, 0 Jun 23 23:33 /dev/i2c-0
crw-r--r-- 1 root root 89, 1 Jun 23 23:33 /dev/i2c-1

crw-r--r-- 1 root root 89, 7 Jun 23 23:33 /dev/i2c-7

Here's what my /proc/bus/i2c looks like:

i2c-0 i2c bt848 #0
Bit-shift algorithm
i2c-1 i2c bt848 #1

i2c-3 i2c DDC:fb0 #1 on i2c-matroxfb
Bit-shift algorithm
i2c-4 i2c MAVEN:fb0 on i2c-matroxfb

And of course an lspci:

01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: Matrox Graphics, Inc. MGA G400 AGP (rev 03)

I'm using Slackware 9.1, kernel 2.2.24.

Thank you VERY much if you can give any insight.
