I haven't actually got my card yet, so I'm just going by what I've read, but the Matrox cards which support tv-out are dual head (either two VGA ports, or one VGA and one DVI). The CONTVOUT-E cable plugs into the VGA port of the G550 (or the secondary VGA port in the case of a dual VGA port card), which outputs to your TV. You can drive a monitor by plugging it into the other port. (You'll need DVI->VGA adapter, unless you have a LCD monitor.) I have no idea how well this is supported under Linux. Maybe someone else can comment. Cheers, Jason.
