I haven't actually got my card yet, so I'm just going by what I've read,
but the Matrox cards which support tv-out are dual head (either two VGA
ports, or one VGA and one DVI).  The CONTVOUT-E cable plugs into the VGA
port of the G550 (or the secondary VGA port in the case of a dual VGA
port card), which outputs to your TV.  You can drive a monitor by
plugging it into the other port.  (You'll need DVI->VGA adapter, unless
you have a LCD monitor.)

I have no idea how well this is supported under Linux.  Maybe someone
else can comment.
