Just for the record, I got it working. What I did was to edit the /etc/freevo/local_conf.py and set the VIDEO_ITEMS to a name, and then pointed it to the directory with my video...e.g. [ ('Local Movies', '/root/Movies/') ] . Now when I select Watch a Movie, it goes directly to that folder and shows all videos in there.

I'm not sure if jumping in after the fact is going to help, but I think
the commands you're looking for are plugin.remove("..."), and
plugin.activate("..."), where ... refers to the name of the module/menu
item.

By default, plugin.activate("...") is enabled for the menu items. Try if
plugin.remove("...") does what you want. I haven't tried it myself so it
may or may not do the trick. You can add these commands to the
local_config.py. There's a section in local_config.py that has some sample
plugin related commands, but those for the main menu are defined in
/usr/share/freevo/freevo_config.py. (You shouldn't modify freevo_config.py
since it'll be overwritten with a new freevo install).
