I would try changing the line:
'tv:// -tv ' +
to:
'tv://%(channel)s -tv ' +
mencoder options for tv have been a mess for a few versions while they switch over to
the new tv url syntax.
otherwise you might have to resort to using raw frequencies if mencoder doesn't know
the channel number. The whole channel numbering thing is a mess since mencoder
(mplayer), xawtv, and tvtime do not agree on what to call some channels in certain
locales. its very frustrating but we are moving to frequencies in our software to try
to get around this.
