I am interested what video-formats freevo will encode DVDs to...

I understand a very good combination is to use OGG-vorbis audio,
  at something like 96kbps (or 160kbps for high quality), and
  'mencoder' libavcodec xvid/divx whatnot (mpeg4-based), wrapped
  up into a OGM file.

I know that encoding to an avi with the same video codec is possible,
  but this typically is done with nasty mp3 constant-bitrate which
  typically means less space for the video (??).

I would like to know what types of encoding work in recent versions
  of freevo, and, also, what types of video can be played now ?
  Maybe just everything mplayer plays? or xine-based??

Any helpful comments appreciated ;-).
