Hello all,

I was wondering how the "new" OSD (or gui while playing a movie) works in
ombination with mplayer and
the format/size of the movie currently playing.
In other words: "Is there a need to expand the movie to a given size to have a decent
layout?"

The thing is:
The resolution of freevo is at my system 800x600, when i play a movie I use no scaling
at all:
mplayer plays the movie in the format it was created this can be "any" resolution:
512x244
512x208
300x400
or whatever

When mplayer plays this movie on my TV-set I just use the "fit" or "expand" button on
my
TV set to get a full screen movie.

The only disadvantage by using this method is that subtitles are not created in a
black band
beneath the movie, but on the movie itself..........so be it.
Saving the CPU time enables me to simultaniously watch a divx movie and
recording/creating a divx from a simple TV capturing card by
using mencoder.

The BIG advantage is that no extra CPU power is needed for expanding the movie, which
wouldn't add
quality anyway. I guess this "feature" is also used by many other people with a
relatively slow cpu's
Is the "new" OSD based on the resolution of Freevo (800x600 or 1024x768) or does it
dependend on the resolution of the movie
currently playing?

It would be a nice to have thing to have when the movie can be scaled depending on
subtitle fontsize and
moviesize(=format of movie 512x244 or 768x326), it saves a lot of cpu time by scaling
JUST what is needed.
Another nice thing to have would be setting the subtitle fontsize DEPENDING on the
moviesize.

With kind regards
Fons van der Beek
