I've tried my best to google for the answer to this, and I'm afraid I've
already found it, but I'm hoping against hope that I'm wrong.

I can run mplayer with dxr3 output without a problem from the command
line, but if I start it from freevo which is also output to the dxr3, I
can't control the mplayer with the keyboard, and if I want to stop a
playing movie early I have no recourse but to Ctrl-c and kill
everything. I don't have an IR remote and want to control everything
with the keyboard. I've seen others have the same problem and was
hoping I'm just mission something trivial.

My other problem is also related to mplayer and freevo on the dxr3 and
that's that I'm using an Audigy card for 5.1 surround sound output.
When I ren mplayer from the command line with the right arguments
(including using alsa for output) everything is fine, but from within
freevo the movies are about one second out of sync with the sound. Are
there any other options I have. I don't use this box for recordig or
watching live TV. BTW, the music playback with mplayer from freevo
works as expected keyboard and sync wise.

Here's my setup:
Slackware 10
Freevo 1.5.1
mmpython 0.4.6
SDL-1.2.7 (patched of course w/ nokbd and dxr3)
ffmpeg 0.4.6
pygame 1.6
mplayer 1.0pre5
(all above programs and their dependencies compiled from source)

Is another video card my only option? I'm hoping that it's not.
Thanks for any help you might be able to render.
