I think you should try and run irw first on its own. Without freevo then
with and see if you pick up events.
Maybe some strange locking?

only in freevo. If you try the same "operation" out from freevo, the
script goes...
Maybe it's caused from the new main loop... but I don't know. I've asked
here in the mailing list... but with no results...
