I do this remotely with an ftp server (proftpd) on the freevo box.  I
view the SD card with freevo, but copy to my file server via FTP.  I
tend to keep the freevo box free of anything other than recorded TV
(which is automatically compressed and moved to the fileserver via a
script anyway).  I then use autofs to access the various file servers on
the network.
