Yes, it was totally strange. I was even hacking the "mplayer.py" plugin using os.system to try and run the "ivtvfbctl" but to no avail.
Changing the Mplayer and Xine VO_DEV from "ivtv" or "ivtvdev" or "fb" or "fbdev" to... "xfb" caused Mplayer to show the video on screen in full screen mode. Mplayer was a bit flaky, so I changed to Xine using the same "XFB" VO device and it works! Perfectly! I'll archive up my configs tonight and send them your way mate. I'm at work at the moment, and I cannot SSH to my house for some reason. My broadband must be down?
