have you tried a program like TVtime or Xawtv and made sure that they
work?  It is a good way to test to see if you have everything
installed and configured correctly (drivers, x-windows, etc...).  If
you are sure you can watch TV on one of those programs, then it is an
issue with how you set it up with Freevo.  Try running the commands
that freevo is failing on and see what happens.  Debug them from
there.  You can find the commands by looking in the log files.
