On the subject of pc-to-tv adapters, I used one I got from maplin
electronics here in the UK with freevo. It had two buttons on it, one
was an overscan button and the other was a bugger up the picture button
which made the screen go green?!?!

The overscan button would change through 3 modes, one of which would
have the picture clipped off the screen a huge amount to the right but
vertically it was perfect, The other would overscan by only a couple of
pixels and the final mode would set a black border around the image.

If your adapter is setting an 800x600 image off screen then maybe (and
it probably sounds stupid to mention) there is a button somewhere which
will change the signal. This button may be on the inside of the device
even?

You may also want to try using the video mode 704x512 (which worked on
an old S3 card i once had, miro media view TV this was one helluva
strange card!?!?)

If all else fails you could try and build your own vga-composite
adapter, I think there's a circuit on www.epanorama.net for the more
adventurous out there, there is even a TV transmitter!! Low power
transmits about 60 feet but worth it for freevo multiroom!

Regards,
  Karl
